KATHMANDU, March 19: The seats of the parties in the House of Representatives (HoR) have changed. In the post-election session of the HoR held on 14 November, the Nepali Congress (NC) was in the opposition and the CPN-UML was a ruling party.

NC, Maoists and other parties sat on the bench of the ruling parties during the oath-taking ceremony of MPs on 7th of January. However, on January 10th, after UML and Maoists formed the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC became an opposition.

However, before the presidential election, the power equation changed again. CPN-UML and RPP withdrew their support to the government. After that, for the first time in the HoR meeting held on Sunday, UML sat on the opposition bench for the first time. Along with UML, RPP is also sitting on the opposition bench.

In the HoR, the seats of the opposition are to the left of the Speaker and those of the ruling parties to the right of the Speaker.

NC and Unified Socialist are sitting on the bench of the ruling parties. Both these parties have already decided to give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Dahal.
