After the van remained untraced, a team led by senior geologist Narayan Adhikari from the Department of Mines and Geology began an on-site study on Tuesday at the request of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City.:
Senior geologist Adhikari stated that the search operation was halted due to safety concerns after the ground around the suspected area began to sink further during the study conducted until Wednesday afternoon.
Despite conducting studies until Wednesday afternoon, the search was suspended due to safety risks as the ground around the area where the vehicle was buried began to sink further, the official said.
During the investigation, the team used metal-detecting equipment to examine the subsurface and tested soil up to a depth of 8 meters. “We will prepare a report based on the study and findings so far,” said Adhikari. The team is now preparing to return to Kathmandu.
