Under the announcement, a conflict-victim student studying in primary level is entitled to receive Rs. 10,000, in lower secondary Rs. 12,000 and in higher secondary Rs. 16,000 every year. However, many students are yet to receive scholarship.[break]
Last year, 36 students had applied for scholarship, according to the District Education Office. However, efforts of RSS correspondent to ascertain how many of them received scholarship went in vain.
"One student of higher secondary level and two of primary level were granted scholarship in the first four months of the last fiscal year," said an officer at the education office, Yukta Prasad Sharma.
District-based rights activist Thak Prasad Purja said the government announced scholarship, but has not released appropriate amount of money. "This has dismayed students," he said.
