Supreme Court draws police attention to release former DIG Joshi on bail or own recognizance

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: The Supreme Court (SC) has recommended releasing former deputy inspector general and former director of Gorkha Media, Chhabilal Joshi, who was arrested in connection with the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud scam.

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: The Supreme Court (SC) has recommended releasing former deputy inspector general and former director of Gorkha Media, Chhabilal Joshi, who was arrested in connection with the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud scam. The SC has recommended to the police to release him either on bail or his own recognizance.


A joint bench of justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Abdul Aziz Musalman drew the attention of Nepal Police to either release Joshi on bail or on his own recognizance, considering the upcoming Dashain holidays.

While hearing a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Joshi, the SC stated that although he was not unlawfully detained, considering the Dashain holidays, he can be released on bail or own recognizance.


Earlier, the Kaski District Court had ordered Joshi's detention until October 3.
