Issuing a press statement on Saturday, District Education Office and Nepal Teachers´ Union of Saptari has decided to close all the community schools on Sunday and Monday.[break]
“If there is no change in weather in the next two days, we may prolong the closure," said Bhabendra Yadav, president of the teachers´ union.
Over the past few days, the temperature has gone down suddenly affecting normal life throughout the district.
The cold spell has already claimed six lives in Saptari so far. Similarly, many children and elderly in the district have taken ill due to excessive cold.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecasted that the central Tarai will witness more foggy and chilly days ahead.
