Hearing on writ petitions filed against the dissolution of HoR to be continued today


KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Sapana Pradan Malla has replaced Hari Krishna Karki in the five-member constitutional bench formed under Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana to conduct hearing on writ petitions filed against the dissolution of House of Representative (HoR).

Hari Krishna Karki himself had announced to stay out from the constitutional bench as his presence was questioned. He previously served as attorney general when Prime Minister K P Oli became prime minister for the first time in 2015. 


During the earlier hearing, the petitioners had demanded a full bench to conduct a hearing. However, the Chief Justice Rana has reformed the constitutional bench to conduct the hearing.


Now, the five-member bench comprises justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Tej Bahadur KC, Anil Kumar Sinha and Sapana Pradan Malla.


President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the lower house of parliament and announced a midterm elections for December 20 upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli.
