Found guilty of acquiring illegal arms, the actor surrendered on May 16, 2013, and has since been out of jail on multiple occasions, the last one being a one-month parole granted in August this year.Sanjay had already served 18 months of the sentence as an undertrial and has to serve another 42 months.
His release may just fuel takeoff of several Bollywood projects. OMG - Oh My God! director Umesh Shukla, who wants Dutt in his next, had told Mirror (June 1), "I've had an initial meeting with Sanju on a film. It's a nice, sensible subject and he liked it... I'll discuss the first draft with him once he is out of jail."
Rajkumar Hirani's biopic on the actor, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, is expected to be going on the floors mid-next year. The filmmaker revealed to Mirror that he had shown his script to the Munna Bhai actor and intends to keep him in the loop throughout.
