The bank had announced the journalism award in December last year.

The bank signed the agreement on the occasion of its 11th anniversary on Monday. The award, which carries a purse of Rs 500,000, will be distributed every year to a journalist/institution for their commendable contribution to journalism sector, according to Sanima Bank's CEO Bhuvan Dahal.

Borna Bahadur Karki, chairman of Press Council Nepal and Sanima Bank's CEO Dahal signed the agreement in the presence of the bank's Brand Ambassadors Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, according to a statement issued by the bank.

“Though we have established the award, we want to make sure that there won't be direct or indirect interest of the bank except encouraging and enhancing journalists and organizations involved in the journalism to do better,” Dahal, said speaking at the agreement signing ceremony.

Similarly, Karki said a committee will be formed to choose recipient of the award. “The conditions, procedures and process of the award will be developed later,” Karki said, adding:  “The bank believes that the national prize established under Corporate Social Responsibility will encourage individuals and institutions involved in journalism sector to do better.
