Samsung inaugurates Landmark Television factory in Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI, April 26: Samsung has inaugurated a new television factory in Nawalparasi, Nepal, marking a significant moment in the country's manufacturing journey. This is the first time a multinational company has set up an electronics manufacturing facility in Nepal, and it is expected to have a major impact on the local economy. The new factory was inaugurated by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, and Samsung Southwest Asia CEO, JB Park.

Samsung has been present in Nepal for over two decades, and this new television factory is a reflection of the company's deep-rooted interest in the country. The factory is a collaboration with Samsung's long-standing partner in Nepal, Him Electronics, and is expected to create employment opportunities and develop skilled manpower. The manufacturing facility will also help increase efficiency and productivity, creating a stronger electronics manufacturing ecosystem in Nepal.

Speaking at the inauguration, JB Park, CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia said,  "This new television factory with our partners Him Electronics will further deepen our bond with Nepal and underline the work we are doing to strengthen the local industry and provide employment opportunities to people here. It will also facilitate the development of skilled manpower. We thank the Nepal Government and local authorities for their strong vision and continued support."

The factory's foundation was laid in August 2022, and it is a landmark in Nepal's manufacturing journey. The facility is expected to transform the electronics space in the country by promoting local enterprise, new skills, innovations, and jobs. Samsung currently sells consumer electronics products such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and smartphones in Nepal through its partner and has a strong network of 500 electronics retail stores and customer service centers.

According to Shekhar Golchha, chairman and MD of Golchha Group, "The cooperation with Samsung exhibits the potential the sector has in Nepal. With suitable policies to promote the sector, we can see many positive contributions to the national economy in terms of employment, value addition and opportunities beyond national boundaries."

The inauguration of Samsung's new television factory is a significant moment for Nepal and highlights the country's potential in the electronics manufacturing sector.
