Salakpur oranges feature in Kolkata Himalayan Orange Festival

ILAM, Dec 1: Oranges produced in Salakpur of Ilam have been featured in the third Himalayan Orange Tourism Festival kicked off in Kolkata of India from today. The three-day festival is organised by Himalayan Orange Tourism Council.

ILAM, Dec 1: Oranges produced in Salakpur of Ilam have been featured in the third Himalayan Orange Tourism Festival kicked off in Kolkata of India from today. The three-day festival is organised by Himalayan Orange Tourism Council. 

A cultural team also comprising seven farmers earlier reached Kolkata in connection to the festival. 

Besides Salakpur oranges, the Nepali stall in the festival displays locally produced avocado, honey, broom and handicraft items, according to farmer Yam Adhikari. 

The ECO Tourism-based in Siliguri of India has facilitated the participation of the Nepali side in the festival. Salakpur farmers who got an opportunity to visit the festival with their produces last time said that their participation has helped promote local agro-tourism. 

According to Salakpur's leading farmer Kumar Moktan, the organizers have agreed to bear the transport fare of the Nepali team and their accommodation cost. RSS
