African recruits Alvis and G Martial as well as Kamal Thapa netted for Sahara.
Sahara took a lead in the game with Alvis striking in the 6th minute from the box with his solo effort in a counter-move. Man-of-the-match Alvis took the ball from center beating Janajagriti's defender Janak Karki and goalie Rabi Thapa to score the goal.
Martial doubled the advantage in 52nd minute converting Budhha Tamang's corner kick into goal.
Kamal, who replaced Alvis in the 65th minute, scored the third goal for the host in the 83rd minute in a one-on-one situation.
Sahara also avenged the defeat of 4-3 in a tie-breaker dealt to the team in the opener of the 13th edition last year.
Saraha will face United Sikkim of India in its next match.
Sahara also missed a number of goal-scoring chances as Alvis' powerful shot in 12th minute was punched by Janajagriti goalie, while Alvis shot off Shiva Shrestha's cross was rebounded by hitting the crossbar in the 32nd minute.
Similarly, Janajagriti also created several opportunities but failed to execute them.
Ramesh Ghishing's shot from the danger zone was saved by Sahara goalkeeper Binay Shrestha in the 20th minute and Ajay BK gave poor finish off Aba's pass a minute later.
After the match, Janajagriti coach Umesh Shrestha said that his side faced the defeat after failing to utilize goal-scoring opportunities.
"Our players came to Pokhara from Kathmandu and Simara just on Monday and played without any rest at all that caused them to utilize the opportunities," said Shrestha, who, despite the defeat, added that his side played good game.
Similarly, Sahara coach Kiran Shrestha said that his side helped to forget the defeat faced last year as the team played good game.
"We have faced defeat against the same team last time, however we won this time because our players played good game," he said. "We won the match by utilizing goal-scoring opportunities," added Sahara coach Shrestha.
On Wednesday, APF and Gorkha Brigade of Indian Army will face each-other.
