KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The 1st SAARC Agriculture Cooperative Business Forum kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday with the objective of organizing and strengthening family farmers' cooperatives in South Asian Association for Regional Corporation (SAARC) countries.
The forum has been co-organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Asian Farmers' Association (AFA) with the support from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), according to a statement issued by the organizers.
What is missing in budget for agriculture?
The event, which is being organized with the theme 'Organizing and Strengthening Family Farmers' Cooperatives to attain SDG-1 and SDG-2 in South Asia', the three-day event will continue till August 30.
Representatives of both governments and non-governmental organizations of SAARC member countries are attending the event.
