KATHMANDU, Dec 13: A Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) ended on Sunday at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Baluwatar, expressing condolence over the demise of its leader Kaman Singh Lama.

The meeting, which lasted just for a few minutes, was attended by chairmen duo KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the Standing Committee members.

The next meeting of the party's Standing Committee has been scheduled for coming Wednesday.

Although Chairman Oli skipped the last Standing Committee meeting, taking a strong exception to a political proposal tabled earlier by the executive chairperson of the party, Dahal, he attended the meeting today.

Lama, a central committee member of the NCP and a former Nepali Ambassador to South Korea, succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday.

The meeting venue was shifted to Baluwatar this morning although it was earlier scheduled to take place at Dhumbarahi, the party headquarters, as chairperson Oli, who is also the prime minister, expressed his unwillingness to go there citing the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic.
