Dahal expressed unhappiness over the government’s recent political appointments

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: A Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) will take place on Saturday afternoon.

The decision to hold the Secretariat meeting was taken during a meeting between NCP Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and executive chairperson of the party Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the former’s official residence in Baluwatar this morning.

The Secretariat meeting will take place at 4PM in Baluwatar, according to Dahal’s press advisor Bishnu Sapkota.

It is learnt that Dahal expressed his dissatisfaction with Oli over the recent appointments made by the Oli-led Cabinet without prior knowledge of the party.

On Thursday, the Cabinet recommended Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Lokdarshan Regmi and Nirmal Kumar BK as Nepal’s new ambassadors to the United States, United Kingdom and South Africa, respectively. The Cabinet also appointed Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi as the chief secretary.

In Friday's meeting, Dahal reportedly told Oli that the latter had made key political appointments by bypassing the party’s Secretariat, according to sources. The chairmen duo also held discussions on the criteria for the proposed Cabinet reshuffle.

Oli and Dahal held a series of meetings last week in a bid to finalize the leaders to be inducted as ministers in the Cabinet. However, they failed to resolve the matter as there are several aspirants within the party to become ministers.
