'Ruling and opposition parties should unite on development agendas'

CHITWAN, Jan 12: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwar Pokharel, has stressed the need for both ruling and opposition parties to forge consensus on developmental agendas. 


Inaugurating the Khichara Festival organized by the Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha Constituency-7 in the district on Saturday, DPM Pokharel emphasized on national prosperity through consensus among all parties.

He also committed that the incumbent government will translate the commitments made by the then CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) in their election manifestoes. 


Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Land Management and Agriculture Dawa Dorje of the Provincial Government of Province-3, Nepali Congress Chitwan President Jit Narayn Shrestha, Tharu rights campaigners Jokha Chaudhary, Lalit Kumar Chaudhary, Krishna Lal Chaudhary, Chandra Kumari Chaudhary, among others extended the best wishes for the success of the festival. 


The festival which will conclude on January 21 has 120 stalls showcasing peculiar Tharu culture and attires, said Chudamani Chaudhary, coordinator, festival organizing committee.
