On Friday, the SC upheld the High Court bench's order in Tulshipur, Butwal, to send Lamichhane to custody for investigation. Justices Nakahul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal issued the order on a habeas corpus petition filed by Lamichhane's wife, Nikita Paudel.

The order states: "The court directs that the petitioners and defendants, Rabi Lamichhane and Chhabilal Joshi, remain in custody for investigation as needed based on future evidence, and that the case proceed accordingly. The previous order dated 2081/12/22, which was not served, is cancelled. All concerned must follow the law."

This order concerns the writ petition filed on behalf of former Home Minister Lamichhane, who is in custody at Bhairahawa prison in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case.
