KATHMANDU, March 26: UCPN-Maoist aligned Republican Sports Federation of Nepal (RSFN) Monday asked the government to form a separate committee to probe alleged irregularities during the Sixth National Games.

The demand by the RSFN, which close to radical faction of the Maoist headed by Jayandra Bahadur Chand, came during a press conference in the capital. [break]The other RSFN faction, which is close to the establishment, is headed by Ranasangram Bista.

"It is positive that Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Public Account Committee have started inquiry. But we demand that the government form a fair and high level investigation committee and bring out truth," Chand said adding that a probe committee formed by Far-western Region denizians confirmed irregularities in the games.

"A high level investigation is essential as there is suspicion of irregularities in the construction of physical infrastructure, purchase of sports kit, management and others."

Chand also warned of stern protests if RSFN´s demand was not addressed promptly. "We will forward our demand to the prime minister and sports minister in a few days and if it is not addressed we will come with stern protest."
