KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Bhuwan Kumar Pathak has been elected as the Speaker of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly.
Pathak was elected by defeating his nearest rival Nepali Congress candidate Shivaraj Adhikari.
While Pathak got 62 votes, Adhikari got only 36 votes. Srijana Saiju of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, another candidate for Speaker, got three votes. The CPN United Socialist did not vote for anyone.
Out of the 110 members in Bagmati Provincial Assembly, 108 participated in the voting, except the senior-most member.
