Route permit open for public transport

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The government has opened route permits for public vehicles with effect from Friday. The provision has been made to ease the travel of the public for the upcoming festival of Dashain.

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The government has opened route permits for public vehicles with effect from Friday. The provision has been made to ease the travel of the public for the upcoming festival of Dashain.


With this, passenger vehicles do not need route permits to provide service in any part of the country, according to the Department of Transport Management. The provision will remain in effect until October 27.

Likewise, the entry of large goods carrier vehicles including trailers, except those transporting food and other essential items, has been banned from entering the Kathmandu valley.


It may be noted that advance ticket bookings for public transport have already been open from October 9 with the aim of facilitating the passengers going home for Dashain festival.


More than two million people are expected to leave the federal capital to their respective home towns and villages to celebrate Dashain, one of the greatest festivals of the majority Hindus in the country.
