SINDHUPALCHOWK, Oct 4: The flooded Bhotekoshi River recently swept away a Bailey bridge at Larcha in Sindhupalchowk, cutting off road access to the Tatopani point along the Nepal-China border. The bridge, located along the Kodari Highway, connected Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 to China. As a result, the border village of Liping has also lost direct access to the federal capital.

Currently, the Tatopani point can only be accessed by a ropeway. According to Kumar Shrestha, chairman of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, the local government with the help of the Road Division Office has constructed temporary structures to facilitate the movement of people. It was possible with the use of two excavators and a tripper from the local government, with funding from the Office. However, the ropeway is not a durable or safe means of transport, he added.
