KATHMANDU, Aug 5: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested a Romanian national called Preda Aurelian on the charge of stealing money through ATM cards belonging to Himalayan Bank and Nabil Bank.
According to CIB, he had also been stealing money from individual bank accounts from ATM booths stalled in Durbar Marga, Thamel and Lazimpat.
Russian ‘ATM hacker’ lands in police net
On August 1, a special squad of CIB had arrested Preda from Shankar Hotel based on a CCTV footage.
The CIB team raided his room and recovered Rs 264,000 in cash, a laptop, gift card, passport and ID card.
The arrested has been charged under Banking Crime and Punishment Act 2064 BS.
