Revenue collection at Tatopani customs surges by 80 percent

Imports at the Tatopani Customs checkpoint have started to increase. In the past five months, Tatopani Customs has collected Rs 7.56 billion in revenue.

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Imports at the Tatopani Customs checkpoint have started to increase. In the past five months, Tatopani Customs has collected Rs 7.56 billion in revenue.


Tatopani Customs Officer Surya Prasad Kafle stated that this year's revenue collection has increased by 80 percent compared to the same period last year.

Currently, 28 containers are arriving daily at the Tatopani border. The highest volume of imports consists of electric vehicles.


Kafle also mentioned that garlic, fruits, and ready-made goods are being imported through this border point. The customs office reported that revenue collection reached Rs 1.71 billion in the month of Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December).


Due to floods and landslides in mid-September, imports from the Tatopani and Rasuwa border points to China were halted for more than a month. However, now, daily imports of Chinese goods are being carried out through both border points.
