Renu Dahal leading by more than 5,000 votes in Bharatpur metropolis

CHITWAN, May 21: The ruling alliance candidate Renu Dahal has taken lead with a margin of 5,133 votes for the post of Mayor in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

CHITWAN, May 21: The ruling alliance candidate Renu Dahal has taken lead with a margin of 5,133 votes for the post of Mayor in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. 


A candidate of CPN (Maoist Center), Dahal has received 27,412 votes in the ongoing vote counting. Her nearest rival Bijay Subedi of the CPN-UML has received 22,279 votes.

Independent candidate Jagannath Poudel is trailing behind Subedi with 9,552 votes, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer. 


Likewise, Chitrasen Adhikari of the Nepali Congress has taken the lead over Himala Gurung of RPP by a margin of 12,200 votes for the post of Deputy Mayor. Adhikari has so far garnered 29,525 votes while Gurung has received 17,325 votes. 


A total of 127,839 votes have been cast in Bharatpur Metropolitan City in the local level elections held on May 13.
