Relief worth 4.9 million for affected farmers

KASKI, July 15: The Gandaki state government has provided relief support to the farmers of Mustang, who lost their cattle due to heavy snowfall and subsequent cold last winter.

KASKI, July 15: The Gandaki state government has provided relief support to the farmers of Mustang, who lost their cattle due to heavy snowfall and subsequent cold last winter.


A total of 377 farmers from all the five rural municipalities of Mustang received the assistance worth Rs. 4.92 million.

According to Secretary at the Ministry of Land Reforms, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Durga Prasad Dawadi, the farmers had lost sheep, mountain goat, yak, horse, and other domestic cattle in the disaster. The Lomanthang rural municipality had suffered the most as a result of the snowfall.


A team led by Agriculture Minister Lekh Bahadur Thapamagar and other officials of the ministry distributed the relief support on July 13 and 14. The compensation was based on the evaluation made by a team that had made an onsite inspector soon after the incident. The team was represented by the district administration, agriculture ministry and veterinary hospital, Myagdi.
