A team from Siraha District Police Office (DPO) arrested Raj Kumar Sah, 25, alias Raju, and his 65-year-old father, Satyanarayan Sah of Rajbiraj, district headquarters of Saptari, along with Pashupati Chaudhary, 28, of Malhanama VDC - 3, also in Saptari, in connection with the shooting, informed the DPO.
According to SP Manoj Neupane, chief of police in Siraha, police arrested Raju and Pashupati on the East-West highway while they were trying to escape by motorbike (Sa 2 Pa 9406). He also informed that police have seized a pistol from them along with one round of ammunition.
“After the duo´s arrest, police also arrested Raju´s father Satyanarayan from his ancestral home at Jamuni Madhapura VDC - 6, Saptari, in possession of a shotgun and one round of ammunition,” said SP Neupane.
Preliminary investigations show that Raju tried to kill Yadav after the latter refused him his (Yadav´s) daughter´s hand in marriage. He was in unrequited love with Yadav´s daughter, said the DPO.
“Our investigations found that the three arrested were involved in shooting Shova Yadav at the school premises on Saturday night,” said SP Neupane.
In his statement to police, Raju said that he had been intimidating Yadav for a long time. Likewise, Yadav also reported to police that he was threatened with death if he did not allow Raju to marry his daughter, said officials at the DPO.
Dhakendra Khatiwoda, police inspector in Lahan, said, “Though Raju lived in Rajbiraj, he frequently visited Lahan. In the course of his visits, he had developed a liking for Yadav´s daughter.”
Khatiwoda said Raju was already married, with two children. He had rented a flat in Lahan lately and Pashupati was also staying with him.
