Although Regmee could have been released on a bail of Rs 2,800, Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Thapaliya pronounced the sentence as Regmee could not afford it.
A three-member probe committee headed by SSP Mingmar Lama has been formed to further investigate into the matter. The committee will submit a report in five days.
Meanwhile, a preliminary report of a probe committee formed by UML district committee said Regmee was incited by the party members to slap Khanal.
“The committee has neared a conclusion that Regmi was incited by few members of the party,” said UML district Chairman Rewati Raman Bhandari, adding three people were involved in the act.
Regmee, a former cadre of UML, had been living an independent life after Constituent Assembly polls.
