“I have been making remarks on contemporary issues on the basis of my experiences in public forums. If my remarks were deemed defaming the court then I demand the court to take action against me,” he said. “I am ready to face any kind of action if I am proven wrong.”
Advocate Rajaram Ghimire had filed a writ petition against Dhungana for his ‘defaming’ remarks against the SC. Ghimire argued that Dhungana’s remarks that people will bring chief justice to the streets if the apex court decided otherwise on the House dissolution case that was sub judice in the court had defamed the court.
Earlier, the apex court had ordered Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former chief justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Anup Raj Sharma, Kalyan Shrestha and Susila Karki to present themselves with a written response on similar cases filed against them. They had also made remarks on the house dissolution case that was sub judice in the apex court.
