Rauniyar bags international photography award

KATHMANDU, June 7: Ishwar Rauniyar of Nepal has bagged an international photography award.

KATHMANDU, June 7: Ishwar Rauniyar of Nepal has bagged an international photography award. The international photography competition with the theme 'Women and Girls at the Forefront of Sustainable Development: protect, empower, invest' was organized by European Commission for International Cooperation and Development, held at Brussels on Wednesday, in which Rauniyar’s image grabbed third position.


Rauniyar was awarded for his photograph that represented the positive change in the life of rural women of Nepal, especially in their health and time because of the improvised stove.

 Participants from Peru and France stood first and second position in the competition.  Following the program, Rauniyar said, “With this award, European countries will now take interest in development issues of countries like Nepal.”


99 photos from 70 countries took part in the competition among which top 30 photos were selected through online voting. Final three photographs were chosen by a panel of juries.
