"The kids who were taken to be fed and looked after were found to be asked to pray and sing religious rhymes there," said the Committee's Officer Bhagwati Poudel. "When we came to know that they had been illegally taken from the temporary earthquake relief camps without taking approval from VDC or District Child Welfare Committee, we contacted the Central Child Welfare Committee and rescued them."
After four days of effort, the children were returned to their parents. "I had sent my daughter hoping that they'd take care of her and educate her," said 13 year old Rupmaya Tamang's father Mangalsingh Tamang. "But it was only when we reached Nakkhu that we found that they were instead making her sing hymns."
