The committee was formed by its advisor Bhaktaraj Rajkarnikar who was appointed the coordinator of the new committee by a ´special general assembly´ held on Saturday.[break]
The meeting on Saturday had dissolved the Thulobhai KC-led committee accusing it of ignoring the general assembly mandate by not holding the election for three years and entrusted Rajkarnikar with the responsibility of expanding the committee and holding the election within three months.
Deshpal Singh Hamal, Kirojman Singh Basnet and Manamohan KC are the vice-presidents of the newly-formed 17-member committee. Mahendra Chhetri, Ramkumar KC and Namgyal Lama are the general secretary, secretary and treasurer of the committee, respectively.
Basnet and Lama held the same portfolio in the Thulobhai-led committee while Manamohan was the general secretary. The members of the new committee Shyam Bhandari, Samir KC and Sarad Aryal were also the members of the Thulobhai committee.
The Thulobhai-led committee has ridiculed Rajkarnikar´s decision of handing over leadership to Rana who himself was entrusted with the responsibility of holding election. "The decision has shocked me. They themselves had appointed Rajkarnikar as the coordinator and now another person is the president. It is ironic."
"Had they obeyed the decision of the so-called special general assembly attended by a handful of people how could the coordinator and the president of the committee be different persons?" Thulobhai said, adding, "My committee has not yet been dissolved and now there are three committees in the club."
Meanwhile, Manamohan, general secretary of the Thulobhai committee and vice-president of the Rana committee, said he did not want to be dragged into controversy and wished to remain neutral.
Rana, the president of newly-formed committee, expressed his commitment to fulfill the responsibility assigned to him and take the club to new heights. "The special general assembly had entrusted Rajkarnikar with holding election within three months. But Rajkarnikar handed the club´s leadership to me as it would be difficult to hold the election within the next three months," Rana said.
"A seven-member election committee will be formed under Rajkarnikar´s leadership shortly and the same committee will hold the election," Rana added.
