CHITWAN, July 8: Rampur Campus run by Tribhuvan University Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (TUIAAS) has been re-opened. The institute which started running the campus in 1972 stopped taking admissions after Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) was established in Rampur.

The campus was reopened in Khairahani Municipality by the vice chancellor of TU, Professor Doctor Tirtha Khaniya. According to him, the establishment of a new university without reaching an agreement with TU hampered the teaching-learning process at the campus.

He claimed that even though the university was producing excellent results when firmly backed by the government and political parties, the Campus had to be closed after the establishment of a new university.  “The Campus was a leading institute when it came to producing agriculture experts and research works,” he said, “We had to stop taking admissions for six years.” The debate between the campus and AFU was even taken to the court. Accepting the suggestion given by a committee formed to end the debate, TU was allowed to run an engineering campus instead of the agricultural campus in the current building, and Rampur Agricultural Campus was to be shifted to Shaktikhor.
