PARSA, Aug 12: With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Muslim worshippers have thronged mosques in Parsa district from early Thursday morning for prayers.

Crowds of devotees have thronged the mosques situated at Murli, Nayatola, Chapkaiya, Ranighat and some other places. [break]

During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from dawn until sunset for one month. However, incapacitated, sick and children are exempt from fasting.

Muslims fast throughout the day for a month with a belief that the fasting makes one closer to God. Devotees also wish for the well-being of their families, said a Muslim teacher in Birgunj, Hamid Ansari. He said Ramadan is one of the toughest and holiest festivals of the Muslim community.
