Ram Bir Manandhar returns to UML

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Ram Bir Manandhar, the former State Minister for Ministry of Urban Development, has rejoined the CPN-UML. After the 2079 BS elections, he had given an independent candidacy and became inactive in the party.

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Ram Bir Manandhar, the former State Minister for Ministry of Urban Development, has rejoined the CPN-UML. After the 2079 BS elections, he had given an independent candidacy and became inactive in the party.


However, Manandhar has become active again in the UML with the upcoming by-election in Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Ward No 16. Kathmandu District President of UML Deepak Niraula confirmed that Manandhar is active in UML programs. President Niraula said that Manandhar’s welcome program is not necessary as he had never announced his separation from UML.

Manandhar said that he has become active to ensure the victory of the UM candidate. That he had to be active in UML for further development of the party.


In the elections of 2049 BS and 2054 BS, Manandhar had secured the position of the ward chairman twice from this area with 21,000 voters.


In the elections of 2070 BS and 2074 BS, Manandhar had become the MP from Kathmandu-7. He also became the Minister of State in 2077 BS. However, with the controversy of the then CPN, Manandhar was separated from UML.
