GUWAHATI, India, Nov 21: An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on Monday jolted the Myanmar-India border, causing people to run into the streets for fear of falling debris.

The quake was centred just inside Myanmar, 130 kilometres (80 miles) from the Indian city of Imphal, the capital of the northeastern state of Manipur, the US Geological Survey said.[break]

In Guwahati, about 300 kilometres from the epicentre, homes were shaken for about 8-10 seconds at 08:46am (1516 GMT), leading people to run into the streets, an AFP correspondent said.

There were no immediate reports of damage, except for minor cracks in buildings.
