MYAGDI, April 16: Sheikha Asma Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family, has successfully climbed the 8,091-meter high Annapurna Mountain located in Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 Narchang, Myagdi.
Qatari princess Al Thani along with famous mountaineer Nirmal Purja reached the peak of Annapurna at 4 pm on Saturday. After training with various trainers, the Qatari princess climbed the mountain, according to the Director of Elite Expedition, Mingma David Sherpa.

Qatari Princess Al Thani, who set a world record in the field of mountain climbing, was warmly welcomed in Annapurna-3 Dana, the birthplace of Nirmal Purja. Princess Al Thani, who came to Dana a month ago, participated in the climb after completing all the necessary training for the climb. She is the first Qatari woman to climb the Annapurna Mountain.
Princess Al Thani is the first Qatari woman to climb the 8,611-meter K-To' Lhotse located on the border of Pakistan and China and the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, as well as the first woman from Arab countries to reach the summits of Kanchenjunga and Manaslu, according to Elite Expeditions. She is participating in mountaineering with the goal of completing all 14,000 meter-high peaks.
So far, she has climbed seven out of 14 peaks above 8000 meters. Eight of the 14 highest mountains are in Nepal, while the others are in Pakistan and China. Anna Gutu from America and Alasdair Scott McKenzie from France climbed Annapurna from Elite Expedition this season. This year, 45 people have taken permission to climb Annapurna. Mt Annapurna is the tenth highest mountain in the world. Maurice Hergoz from France had climbed Annapurna for the first time in 1950.
