KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Qatar Airways organized an event in Kathmandu on Thursday to celebrate the listing of the city as the fifth must-see place in the world by Lonely Planet. Issuing a statement, the airways said that the celebration was attended by representatives from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), and the travel fraternity from Kathmandu.

Qatar Airways Country Manager Jayaprakash Nair praised the effort of NTB, NATTA, and the travel fraternity for this international recognition. He added that the recognition would increase tourist flow to the county, helping materialize Nepal’s dream of getting two million tourists by 2020. “Nepal’s world heritage sites, monuments, temples, religious importance, diversified activities, yearlong fantastic weather, adventurous tourism and scenic beauty are being noticed by the traveling public around the globe,” the statement quoted Nair as saying. Also speaking at the event, NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi said that the recognition was a result of joint efforts from the government, NTB, airlines and travel and tourism fraternity of Nepal.
