UDAYAPUR, July 25: The Province 1 Police Office, Biratnagar, has stated that it has collected more than Rs 400 million as revenue while prosecuting those involved in criminal activities. A total of Rs 407.842 million has been collected from 7,384 cases filed in the fiscal year 2020/21.
Province Police Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Navin Raj Rai said that the success was achieved through effective police operations in criminal incidents, implementation of court decisions, customs evasion, illegal riverine exploitation, timber smuggling and traffic management. According to him, action has been taken in 7,384 cases related to various crimes in a one-year period.

He claimed that the police had achieved remarkable success in arresting and prosecuting the fugitives on the run even though the court had sentenced them to imprisonment and fined them for various criminal activities. Police arrested 743 fugitives during the year and collected revenue of Rs 44.358 million from them, said Spokesperson Rai.
Police have also claimed success in drug control. A total of 3,516 grams of brown sugar and 1,789.11 kg of cannabis was seized during the year-long drug control campaign. According to SP Rai, the police have destroyed 876,863 cannabis plants planted on 2,423 ropanis of land throughout the year.
