Province 2 secures second win, Province 6 defeats Province 3

KATHMANDU, April 29: Province 2 has won two consecutive matches in the ongoing first Manmohan Memorial Inter-province U-16 Cricket Tournament, defeating Province 4 by 105 runs on Saturday. 


In the match played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Province 7 won the toss and opted to bat first and presented a target of 187 runs at the loss of all its wickets in 25.4 overs. 


In reply, Province 4 failed to chase the target and was limited to 81 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 30 overs. 


Two players from the winning team were the standout players. Binod Khatri hit 50 runs off 46 balls including 13 boundaries, while Narendra Sawad scored 46 runs off 54 deliveries, which included a six and four fours.

For Province 4, Krishan Poudel claimed four wickets giving away 40 runs in the six overs he bowled, while Mekh Bahadur Sen picked up three wickets at the expense of 24 runs in six overs. 

In reply, Province 4 batsmen simply failed to shine and the highest scorer of the losing team was Anit Baral who hit 16 runs off 23 balls with two boundaries. 


Rahul Bhandari and Sawad nicked two wickets each for the winning team. 


Khatri was named the man-of-the-match. 


Likewise, in the first match played on the same day, Province 6 beat Province 3 by seven wickets. 

Province 3 won the toss and elected to bat first and gave a target of 114 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 16 overs after rain affected the match. 


In reply, Province 6 chased the target at the loss of three wickets in 15.5 overs. 


Priyanshu Shrestha scored the highest 38 runs off 37 balls with a six and three fours, while Sushant Karki hit 23 runs off 15 balls including a six and three fours for Province 6. 


Suraj Budathoki claimed two wickets giving away 20 runs in the four overs he bowled, while Parnam Bahadell, Prakash Jaisi, Sandeep Jung Shahi and Yuvraj KC picked up a wicket each for the winning team. 


Jaisi scored 50 runs off 25 balls including two sixes and six boundaries, while Dinesh Pun added 45 runs off 48 balls with five fours for Province 6. 


Bhabin Kumar Saru Magar made nine runs off nine balls with a four. 


Sushant Karki, Deepak Bohara and Gaurav Katwal claimed a wicket each for the losing side. 

Jaisi was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
