Organizing a news conference at the NA Headquarters here on Thursday, the top-level officers of the NA defended the organization saying that the news disseminated in different media regarding the promotion system in the NA was untrue.[break]
Earlier, nine Lieutenant Colonels of the NA had knocked the door of the court saying that the fast-track promotion system recently adopted by the NA had subdued them.
The NA has also already handed over a note to the Lieutenant Colonels saying that they were working against the discipline of the organization by going to the court despite there were chances of hearing in the organization.
They also said that promotion process was highly transparent and based on statistics considering the work performance of the officers and training in the organization.
On the occasion, the NC officers also said that the dissenting officers could lodge complaints within the organization if they were dissatisfied with the marks given to them.
The dissenting officers also could express their grievances to the Chief of Army Staff via a three-member review committee if they felt cheated over their review application.
They also said that there were three categories of promotion—highly qualified, more qualified and qualified—in the Nepal Army.
A nine-member promotion committee looks after the promotion process of NA personnel from the Major and above level in the NA.
