KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Meteorologists initially predicted that this year’s monsoon in Nepal would end on September 23, but they have revised their forecast. Now, they expect the monsoon to linger until October 2.
Pratibha Manandhar, a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, has confirmed that the monsoon will be extended for a few more days. As the monsoon season wraps up, a low-pressure area from the Bay of Bengal will move northwest towards Bihar, India.
Ensure better preparedness for monsoon disasters
Manandhar said that although it will not bring continuous rain, the monsoon will not end until October 2, the day before Ghatasthapana, either. After that, the monsoon is expected to exit Nepal in a week.
While there might be some rain for a few four days after Ghatasthapana, Manandhar said that there will be no rain on the tenth day, i.e. the Dashain tika day.
