Monitoring officer Niraj Ghimire said the monitoring of schools has been started after it was found that the schools were taking fees arbitrarily and not on the basis of scientific standard.

Ghimire said the Rupy's International School has been directed to submit to the Department within seven days any papers mentioning the structured decision that indicates the official nature of the fees. He said no such permission letter or the official decision of any formal body was found in the possession of the schools in course of the monitoring.

Likewise, the Kapan-based Daffodil Public School has been instructed to maintain the school's location as Kapan as the registration documents mention that the school is located in Battisputali.

It is directed to be present at the Department within seven days for furnishing clarification as it has not prepared the fees proposal on the basis of the school fees fixation fees structure, the current education laws and regulations related to scholarship and the standard of the institutional schools and the fees determination guidelines.

The Department said it started carrying out monitoring of private schools also after complaints were filed by members of the general public that the private schools were charging more. Before this, the Department had been only monitoring food industries and eateries.(RSS)
