KATHMANDU, Feb 5: A government study has showed that the more expensive private boarding schools in the Kathmandu have been found evading taxes up to 85 and 90 per cent per year, Kantipur FM said. Financial and non-financial surveys carried out recently by subordinate bodies of the Ministry of Finance in 15 private boarding schools in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts revealed this. A source said the total income of these 15 schools during fiscal year 2063/2064 (BS) was Rs 840 million but they paid only Rs 3.8 million as tax in total. However the private schools’ organizations claim most of the schools are operating in loss.
