Prez, Veep, PM extend greetings on Tamu Lhosar

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today said the traditional religion, culture, art, rituals, festivals, cultural processions and heritages summing up a common identity has contributed in shaping distinct image in the world community.
In a greetings message delivered on the occasion of the festival of ‘Tamu Lhosar – 2072’, President Bhandari said Nepal is a prosperous country in terms of religious and cultural diversities.

She further said that promotion, protection and publicity of the diverse ethnic communities by upholding diversity in unity and maintaining national unity, integrity, mutual harmony and religious tolerance is a shared responsibility of one and all.

“The Tamu Gurung culture within the entire Nepali culture in itself is traditional, prosperous and different,” President Bhandari said, adding, “May this festival provide strength to all Nepali people to maintain mutual unity, harmony and tolerance to create a prosperous country.”
Vice President’s greetings
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun today extended greetings on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar festival.



In a statement issued from Vice President’s Personal Secretariat, Pun has wished for good health, peace, prosperity and progress to the Gurung community among all the nation-loving Nepali brothers and sisters in and outside the country.
Vice President Pun has wished the festival should extend and expand mutual harmony, tolerance and cordiality among different Nepali communities and provide additional motivation and excitement to all Nepali people to contribute towards nation’s development.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended greetings among all Nepalis on the occasion of the Tamu Lhoshar, the New Year of the indigenous Gurung community, today.
In a message of best wishes he extended, the PM wished for cordiality, unity, and religious and ethnic harmony among all Tamu Nepalis living in the country and abroad.
The Tamu Lhoshar has a unique tradition of depicting various 12 animals as New Year, the PM said, wishing that the Tamu Lhoshar inspired all to effectively implement the constitution which has ensured everyone's economic, social and cultural rights.
Meanwhile, President of the Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel have expressed best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers of Gurung community living in the country and abroad on the occasion of Lhoshar festival. RSS
