The president gave the tika after 12:30 hours to vice president, Nepal Police, Armed Police, Nepal Army, high ranking officials of the Government of Nepal as well as to general public.
The president is to give tika until 5:00 pm today.
PM receives tika
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai received tika from his octogenarian father Bhoj Prasad Bhattarai, 82, today.
Also receiving tika at the residence of brother of the Prime Minister, Shiva Prasad Bhattarai, at Koteswor were PM´s spouse Hisila Yami and daughter Manushi Bhattarai.
Talking to journalists briefly, PM Bhattarai said consensus will be reached after serious discussions among political parties after Dashain for a political outlet.
He also said his party was ready for both alternatives for new election by formulating necessary laws or revival of the constituent assembly (CA).
Meanwhile, the prime minister visited the old-age home at Pashupati today and greeted the elderlies and gave sympathy to them.
The PM conversed with the elderly with exchange of greetings for an hour after he reached there at 10:00 am and distributed 220 sweaters to them.
The prime minister said he felt self-satisfaction to be in the midst of the elderly, while expressing the need for honoring them by each individual, family, society and state.
He also urged the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare staff to present if there are any problems in running the old-age home.
Meanwhile, chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal has extended greetings for happiness, peace and prosperity to all the Nepalese at home and abroad on the occasion of the Bada Dashain festival.
He said his party honors festivals of all the Nepali people without discrimination.
Chairman Dahal also said parties will agree to instill new hope among the people through political consensus by ending the political transition and wished that Dashain inspire us all to free from the present political complexities.
