POKHARA, Oct 12: As the second edition of the franchise cricket tournament Pokhara Premier League (PPL) comes close—scheduled to start from November 12 in Pokhara—the preparation of the ground has started.

The tournament will be played at the Pokhara Stadium and the re-construction of the ground is expected to be completed within a month.

The reconstruction duties have been handed over to Pokhara’s curator Pradeep Raut.

According to Raut, it is necessary to build the pitch first, and then switch to the outfield.

“There will be two clay pitches, while the other two will be green,’’ Raut said, “The outfield pitch is almost ready as they had already cut the grass and leveled the pitch.”

He added, “First, we will level steep parts of the ground. Then we will water the ground to make the pitch green.”

People are expecting the same excitement and craze for the second season after a successful first season. Pokhara Paltan won the first edition of the tournament.

The organizers are also planning to build another parapet in the stadium to attract more fans for the tournament organized by the Queen Events Management.

A lot of money was spent for the construction of the cricket ground in the first edition, but the same won’t happen now.

The width of the ground is bigger now.

The District Sports Development Committee and Kaski District Cricket Association have invested Rs 1 million and Rs 91,000 respectively for the reconstruction which includes leveling the ground.

Biratnagar Titans, Butwal Blasters, Chitwan Rhinos, Dhangadhi Blues, Kathmandu Royals and Paltan will vie for the title.
