KAVRE, May 10: As many as 3,200 households in Mahabharat Rural Municipality in Kavre district have been provided with the power supply from the central transmission grid from Tuesday.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the electrification drive in all households of the rural municipality run under the government's Ujyalo Initiative Programme. On the occasion, the PM announced to supply power in each house across the country within two years.

During the programme, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising said that Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces would be announced as fully electrified regions within some months and added that two provinces are already fully electrified in the country at present.
As per the request of the local community, the then government had allocated Rs 1.56 billion for the electrification purpose in Mahabharat Rural Municipality, Kavre.
Chairperson of Mahabharat Rural Municipality Kanchharam Jimba said that opportunities for industries and other development avenues are now opened with the uninterrupted power supply in the rural areas.
