CHITWAN, April 27: The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association has increased the price of large-sized eggs to Rs 430 per crate (30 pieces), medium-sized to Rs 380, and 'XL' size at Rs 450 per crate.

Earlier, the price of large eggs had dropped to Rs 350 per crate. Binod Pokharel, President of the association, shared that the association's meeting held on Saturday decided to increase the price of eggs.

The price of eggs has started to gradually increase, with farmers worried about not being able to get even the cost price. They have now felt some relief after the price of eggs started to increase.

The price of eggs, which had reached up to Rs 525 per crate last year, had decreased to Rs 350.

Now the price has increased to Rs 450.

Pokhrel said the price of eggs has increased due to the decrease in egg production as a result of the intense heat and subsequent increase in demand in the market. Increasing temperature is leading to a reduction in the production of eggs, as the poultry are adversely affected by the rise in temperature, especially in the plains where the majority of the egg production takes place.

Madan Pokharel, secretary of the association, says, looking at the current situation, the price of eggs is likely to gradually increase.

Currently, about 3 million eggs are being produced daily in the country.
