A lot can be achieved by utilizing the infinite opportunities in the field of agriculture, hydro-electricity, and tourism in Nepal. Youths can explore the undiscovered land for tourism, enhance commercial mass agriculture production with the application of new technology, and the nation can invest in hydro-electricity projects, roadways, and other basic infrastructures of development. Progress is possible in our country with the help of visionary futurists.
Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates might have never imagined that their conceptual fruits would have a revolutionary impact in information technology and software development. Similarly, no one believed that the Kathmandu Valley would be load shedding-free before Kulman Ghising, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority.
Hence, visionary Nepali youths have the caliber and creativity that can change the face of Nepal. In order to do this, youths have to go no further than their field. Agriculture in Nepal carries immense possibilities if done in the modern way.
People these days have become health conscious and they wish to benefit from organic food, regardless of its cost. Youths should emphasize on organic farming. Though costly at the initial phase, it turns out to be beneficial in the long run. It is eco friendly and indirectly helps in environment conservation as well.
Nepali youths should engage themselves in various sectors, instead of dreaming of going to foreign nations for employment. Mass agriculture production would bring down the exports, thus retaining business and hard earned money within the country.
The opportunities do not end at agriculture and farming, it rather extends to tourism sector and adventure sports, as mentioned above. Youths can engage themselves in different tourism related businesses like hotels, long and short route trekking, mountaineering, rafting, canoeing, bungee jumping, and rock climbing.
We can work to spread the word that Nepal is the best hospitable travel destination and promote the country’s natural beauty so as to attract foreign visitors.
Another area that holds immense potential is hydro-electricity projects. Nepal has numerous small and big rivers, with the capacity of generating of as much as 83,000 megawatt electricity. If we could establish hydro projects, chances are that we can export power to other nations. With electricity comes business, so power generation could help open factories and industries within the nation.
Electricity can bring most Nepali’s troubles to an end, like load shedding, fuel cost, and travel cost. We could have electric trains, cable cars and other modes of electric transportation with the availability of abundant power. Power generation within the country will also reduce dependency on other nations.
Nepali youths are capable and ready for some major changes. But the first thing to realize is that we need not seek opportunities in other countries, and we must stop the brain-drain. If tried, a grand change awaits all Nepalis.
