KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Former Additional Inspector General of police (AIGP) Navaraj Dhakal said that political parties should be responsible to reduce security challenges for upcoming elections. Security has been complicated due to the volatile activities of political leaders.
Speaking with Radio Nagarik on Tuesday, Dhakal stressed that political parties were more focused in finishing the elections than to complete it in a proper way.
As a result, parties and their candidates could take wrong steps, including using people with criminal backgrounds to win and disrupt the elections, he said.

He added that during elections, security remained sensitive from the day candidates filed their nominations and continued until victory rally. As 'political opinion cannot be protected by public representatives,' Dhakal said that concerned stakeholders must take appropriate actions to ensure safety and security during elections.
