Police toils hard to beat Western Region

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Third placed Nepal Police recorded a hard fought 3-2 win against Western Region in the Blue Sky Dhorpatan National Women Double League Volleyball Tournament in Kathmandu on Thursday. Nepal produced 25-23, 20-25, 26-24, 15-25, 15-11 to win nine matches out 11.

Police has 27 points, league leader APF has 45 points from 15 matches, New Diamond Academy is in the second position with 33 points from 12 matches and Western lies in the fourth position with 24 points with eight wins. Meanwhile, Tribhuvan Army Club beat Everest School by 25-16, 25-18, 25-10 in another match of the day.


Indra, Bidit advance
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): APF's Indra Mehta and Bidit Thapa Magar and Tribhuvan Army Club's Nabin Shrestha entered men's singles second round in the Third Open National Badminton Tournament that kicked off in Kathmandu on Thursday. Indra beat Gyalgen Sherpa of Dhumbarahi by 21-10, 21-5 and Nabin produced 21-11, 21-8 victory against Samakhusi to enter the second round.

Similarly, Bidit also sailed into the second round. In men's doubles, the pair of Ganesh Rayamajhi and Bishwash Nepal of BBC and the pair of Joseph Adhikari and Suman Limbu of APF entered second round. The pair of Birendra Thapa and Bina Pun of host Gangata Youth Club, pair of Bishnu Katuwal and Anusha Rai of Nepal Police reached second round in the mixed doubles.
